Calibration connects PDF coordinates to real units

A PDF page uses points, not metres, feet, or millimetres. Calibration creates the conversion between those page coordinates and a known real-world length. The reference must come from the same page and drawing scale as the item you plan to measure.

Scanned drawings can introduce stretch or skew. A page may also contain a reduced print of a larger plan. Check more than one known dimension after calibration and recalibrate when you switch to a page with a different scale.

Zoom and point placement control measurement precision

Each click defines a coordinate. A few pixels of error can change a short distance or a narrow area. Zoom in, place points on line centres or documented boundaries, and follow one consistent placement rule across the drawing.

Distance uses two endpoints. Perimeter follows a chain of segments. Area closes the polygon between the points you place. Complex curves need more points to follow their shape, but extra clicks can add placement error.

Use PDF measurement as a review aid
